Computing Lab Engineer

Job Purpose

The department of Electrical Engineering and Computing Sciences is currently seeking applications from exceptional candidates with a strong commitment to education and student support. The position requires the skills of a technologist and engineer in IT and cybersecurity.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing and supporting the operations of the computing and digital transformation labs.
• Supporting faculty in their courses and projects and working closely with them on acquiring new equipment and software.
• Supporting students in their capstone projects and labs.
• Coordinating with vendors for ordering new lab equipment, solutions and services.
• Providing students with instructions on safety and proper use of equipment, monitoring their lab activities, and making sure electricity and signal radiation are used according to the safety rules set by the vendors. Lab equipment must be maintained according to vendor’s recommendations.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned / needed in order to meet the requirements of the role and the goals of the Institute.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant (internal and external) regulations including QHSE requirements using RIT policies and procedures as appropriate

The selected candidate is expected to start on January 13, 2025 in Dubai.

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computing Security, or a closely related field with a strong background in computer networks and system administration.
• Good knowledge of cybersecurity theories and protocols.
• Good knowledge of AI, ML, and Gen AI and their applications.
• Experience in designing solutions using Linux operating systems for deployment of services in enterprise environments such as DHCP, DNS, NTP, EMAIL, AD DS Integration etc.
• Previous experience in information technology and networking labs, and experience with working with specialized networking equipment and instructional computing software.
• Experience is preferred in developing smart solutions leveraging IoT and sensor systems, machine intelligence, and data analytics.
• Experience in cloud management, orchestration, and applications and experience in maintaining operations of public and private cloud infrastructure is preferred.Technical knowledge required to manage vSphere and VRA is also preferred.
• Industry Certifications. The following certifications are a plus:

Linux Certifications (LPI, CompTIA, RedHat or similar)

Networking Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, Network +.

Security Certifications such as Security+, Cisco CyberOps, CEH, Pentest+, ISC2 CC are preferred.

VRA – VMware Certified Professional VCP-CMA

VRA – VMware Certified Professional VCP-CMA

Network Virtualization – VMware certified Professional VCP-NSX.
