Job Description
- Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents:- Prepare, review, and negotiate a variety of real estate documents including leases, purchase agreements, sale agreements, and other related contracts.- Ensure that all documents comply with legal standards and reflect the best interests of the company.- Title Search and Examination:- Conduct thorough title searches to verify the legal ownership and identify any encumbrances or defects.- Resolve any issues discovered during the title search process.- Due Diligence:- Perform comprehensive due diligence on potential real estate acquisitions.- Analyze and mitigate legal risks associated with property acquisitions and sales.- Ensure all necessary legal due diligence documents are complete and accurate.- Conveyancing:- Manage the legal aspects of property transfers, including preparation and execution of conveyancing documents.- Oversee the closing process to ensure compliance with legal requirements.- Non-Litigation Legal Support:- Provide legal advice and support on non-litigation matters related to real estate transactions.- Address any legal issues that arise during the course of real estate projects.- Liaise with external legal counsel as needed.- Compliance and Regulatory Matters:- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations related to real estate transactions.- Keep abreast of changes in real estate law and advise the company on necessary adjustments to practices and policies.- Team Collaboration and Management:- Collaborate with internal departments such as finance, operations, and development to ensure legal compliance and support.- Provide training and guidance to junior legal staff and other team members on legal matters related to real estate.- Record Keeping and Reporting:- Maintain organized and up-to-date legal files and records.- Prepare and present reports on legal matters and transaction status to senior management.- Qualifications:- Education:- Bachelors degree in Law (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.- Experience:- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in real estate law, with a focus on drafting, title search, due diligence, and conveyancing.- Experience in a managerial role preferred.
