Safety Officer Oragadam (Manufacturing / O&M)

Job Summary

The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety procedures on-site, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a safe working environment across the manufacturing/O&M facility.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Safety Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with Factories Act, TN Factory Rules, and all other statutory norms.
  
• Maintain safety documentation, checklists, permits, incident reports, and training records.
  
• Monitor adherence to SOPs, PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO and other safety systems.
  

2. Daily Site Safety Monitoring

• Conduct daily site inspections, identify unsafe acts/conditions, and implement corrective actions.
  
  
• Monitor machinery safety, handling of tools/equipment, and contractor workforce compliance.
  
• Ensure proper usage of PPE at all times.
  

3. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

• Conduct HIRA, JSA, Job Hazard Analysis for critical tasks.
  
• Recommend risk control measures and follow up on closure of safety observations.
  

4. Training & Awareness

• Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, refresher trainings for employees & contract staff.
  
• Promote awareness on fire safety, emergency response, safe lifting practices, chemical handling, etc.
  

5. Emergency Preparedness

• Conduct emergency drills (fire, evacuation) and maintain first-aid & fire-fighting equipment.
  
• Coordinate with ERT and management for emergency response planning.
  

6. Incident & Accident Management

• Investigate near-misses, incidents, and accidents.
  
• Provide root-cause analysis and preventive action reports (CAPA).

7. Coordination

• Liaison with local statutory authorities when required.
  
• Coordinate with the maintenance, operations, and contractor teams for safe execution of all work.
  

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma / Degree in Engineering (preferred).
  
• Mandatory: Diploma in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH (preferred).
  
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing / O&M / Plant operations.
  
• Good knowledge of PTW, LOTO, HIRA, work-at-height safety, and machine compliance.
  
• Strong communication and reporting skills.
  
• Ability to manage contractor workforce and ensure compliance.
