Job Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Plant Operations Manager / Workshop Manager to lead manufacturing operations within a Wire & Cable production facility. The role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end plant operations, production planning, quality management, safety compliance, maintenance coordination, workforce management, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the Wire & Cable industry, with proven expertise in production leadership, operational excellence, quality assurance, cost optimization, and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will drive productivity, efficiency, and profitability while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Plant Operations & Production Management :
- Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Oversee end-to-end production activities including planning, scheduling, execution, and monitoring of manufacturing processes.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and resources.
- Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve plant performance.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and improve throughput.
- Ensure timely delivery of products while maintaining quality standards.
Production Leadership :
- Provide strong leadership and direction to production teams, supervisors, and operational staff.
- Develop a high-performance culture focused on accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct workforce planning, shift management, and performance evaluations.
- Mentor and coach team members to improve technical and operational capabilities.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration across production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain functions.
Quality Management :
- Ensure all products meet customer specifications, industry standards, and organizational quality requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust quality control and quality assurance systems.
- Analyze production quality data and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Collaborate with quality teams to reduce defects, rework, scrap, and customer complaints.
- Promote continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
Safety, Health & Compliance :
- Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the manufacturing facility.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, industry standards, and internal governance requirements.
- Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
Maintenance & Asset Management :
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability.
- Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor machine performance and minimize production downtime.
- Participate in capital expenditure planning and equipment upgrades.
- Ensure effective management of plant assets and infrastructure.
Inventory & Resource Management :
- Monitor raw material consumption and inventory utilization.
- Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
- Optimize resource allocation to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Control production waste and improve material yield.
Cost Control & Operational Efficiency :
- Drive initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
- Monitor operational budgets and departmental expenses.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost savings.
- Implement productivity improvement and capacity enhancement programs.
- Track operational metrics and prepare management reports.
Stakeholder Management :
- Collaborate with senior management to align plant objectives with business goals.
- Coordinate with quality, maintenance, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Support customer audits, compliance inspections, and certification requirements.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement :
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence initiatives.
- Drive process standardization and best practices across production operations.
- Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Promote a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations Management or Manufacturing Management is preferred.
Required Experience :
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, plant management, or production leadership roles.
- Significant experience in the Wire & Cable Manufacturing Industry is mandatory.
- Proven experience managing large-scale production operations and manufacturing teams.
- Experience in quality systems, safety management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong exposure to plant operations, production planning, and operational excellence initiatives.
