Job Description
- Coordinating Imports: Oversees the entire import process. This includes working closely with suppliers, customs agents, and transportation providers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and trade agreements related to imports.
- Documentation: Reviewing and verifying import documentation (such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Classification: Classifying imported goods using Harmonized System (HS) codes and determining appropriate duty rates , taxes and customs fees.
- Communication: Regularly communicating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to facilitate smooth import operations.
- Shipment Tracking: Monitoring and tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolving any issues or delays. Coordinate the logistics of imports, including transportation and delivery of goods from the port of entry to their destination.
- Customs Declarations: Preparing and submitting import declarations and other necessary documents to customs authorities.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate import records, including purchase orders, shipping documents, and customs paperwork. Investigating and resolving any customs clearance issues.
- Regulatory Awareness: Staying updated on changes in import regulations and trade policies.
- Collaboration: Working closely with internal teams (Procurement, Category and Finance) to ensure seamless operations.
- Risk Assessment: Assessing the risk associated with imported goods, such as compliance risks or security risks and taking appropriate measures to mitigate these risks.
- Cost Management: Monitor and manage import-related costs, including duties, taxes, transportation fees and customs brokerage fees. Finding ways to minimize costs while ensuring compliance is a common goal.

- Knowledge: Deep understanding of import/export processes, customs clearance, and documentation.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse trade data and cargo screening.
- Negotiation: Experience in negotiating contracts and terms with suppliers.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial when dealing with import documentation.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and the ability to function effectively as part of a team to gain the cooperation of individuals across the organization
