Senior Financial Analyst

ROLE SUMMARY

This role bridges correct accounting logic, ERP data, and office-level finance processes. The analyst will work with regional and global teams to reinforce data hygiene, internal controls, GL coding discipline, and consistent use of financial systems.

A core focus is reducing reliance on offline trackers by ensuring system data is complete, accurate, and aligned to global guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review transaction-level GL data to identify incorrect, incomplete, or inconsistent coding across GL account, vendor, description, department, entity, project/task code, tax code, and transaction type.
• Audit revenue and operating expenses using agreed parameters and requirements; highlight missing metadata, generic descriptions, duplicate-like entries, unusual postings, and description-to-GL mismatches.
• Develop knowledge of proprietary ERP data architecture, metadata fields, automated GL routing rules, mapping logic, and reporting outputs; identify root causes where setup or user behavior creates recurring data issues.
• Investigate root causes of systemic data entry errors across multiple offices in financial systems as compared to offline expense, revenue, and headcount trackers, create clear process maps and decision trees to assist offices in correctly entering their data into financial system reporting, and publish reference sheets that guide regional teams on correct data entry.
• Partners with each office and global finance teams to reinforce data entry standards, internal processes, accounting guidelines, and best practices within financial systems.
• Adapt communication, training, and feedback to different office operating styles so guidance is practical, understood, and adopted across regions.
• Own recurring data hygiene reviews, maintain issue trackers, follow up with offices on remediation actions, and support adoption of standardized GL coding and ERP data entry practices

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• 4-7+ years of experience in GL accounting, finance systems, Record-to-Report, finance operations, or controllership.
• Strong understanding of chart of accounts, GL classification, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, reversals, reclasses, cost centers, entities, departments, vendors, and financial dimensions.
• Strong attention to detail; able to review data against defined rules, spot exceptions, and distinguish confirmed data errors from items requiring accounting judgment.
• Hands-on ERP or financial system experience, such as Oracle (Hyperion, ERP, EPM), Adaptive, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar; must understand how systems store, map, and report transaction data.
• Strong Excel and data handling skills, including pivot tables, filtering, sorting, data cleaning, duplicate checks, and reconciliation templates.
• Experience training or coaching regional finance users on coding standards, system usage, and data entry discipline.
• Strong global communication skills; comfortable working with multiple offices that operate differently and tailoring feedback to improve adherence without creating friction.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

• Holds Degree in Finance; MBA (Finance) or Chartered Accountant (Intermediate) or equivalent.
• Experience in GBS, shared services, regional finance governance, or global finance operations supporting multiple markets/offices.
• Exposure to Power Query, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, ERP cleanup, chart of accounts improvement, data governance, finance transformation.
