Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Consultant – India Payroll & Compliance to manage end-to-end payroll operations and statutory compliance. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of Indian payroll, labor laws, payroll processing, and statutory compliance while ensuring timely and accurate payroll delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple clients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to payroll timelines.
- Process monthly payroll inputs, including new joiners, exits, reimbursements, incentives, variable pay, leave, attendance, and statutory deductions.
- Ensure compliance with Indian statutory requirements, including:
- Provident Fund (PF)
- Employee State Insurance (ESIC)
- Professional Tax (PT)
- Tax Deducted at Source (TDS)
- Labour Welfare Fund (LWF)
- Gratuity and Bonus Act compliance
- Prepare and validate payroll reports, reconciliation statements, and statutory challans.
- Coordinate statutory filings and ensure timely submission of returns.
- Support payroll audits and maintain statutory documentation.
- Handle employee payroll-related queries and provide timely resolution.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
- Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation, labor laws, and compliance requirements.
- Support process improvement initiatives and payroll automation where applicable.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Indian payroll processing and statutory compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas, data validation).
- Experience in payroll reconciliation, reporting, and compliance management.
- Understanding of labor laws and payroll taxation in India.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Commerce, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Relevant payroll certification is an added advantage.
- Experience handling payroll for multiple legal entities or multiple clients will be preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in India Payroll & Compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Immediate joiners or candidates available to join within 30 days will be preferred.
