Mechanical Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Design and customise water treatment equipment as per specification and take ownership of project deliverables, time and schedule to execute the project efficiently.

2. Review, understand, interpret and clarify all applicable specifications, to determine project requirements and deliverables.

3. Work closely with the Project/Engineering Managers to establish project schedules, meet project deadlines, and control project engineering costs.

4. Support the Project Manager interfacing the Mechanical Engineering aspects of the projects between customer and supplier throughout proposals, design, manufacture, install and commissioning.

5. Creating RFQ packages to outsource the design and supply of Mechanical Equipment, specifically, but not limited to, Pumps, Pressure Vessels, Valves, Pipework, Steel work.

This would also include reviewing, validating and evaluating the quotes received, and support contract negotiations from a technical aspect to reach setting up the order with the supplier.

6. Owning the Mechanical aspects of projects through the engineering process by performing design work, controlling standards, evaluating results and managing suppliers technical supply.

7. Manage/create/Review and issue to relevant parties documents including design calcs, data sheets and drawings.

8. Assisting in creation of the Operation & Maintenance and Installation & Commissioning manuals.

9. Perform all work in accordance with established process and safety procedures.

10. Monitor and advise on costs associated with designs, both at proposal stage and throughout the contract. Support and develop products through standardization of specifications.

11. With Guidance, act as the lead engineer on projects when required.

12. Manage change / deliverable management.

13. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures and promotes a health and safety culture.

Preferred candidate profile

Masters or Graduation in Mechanical/Chemical engineering or water technology with 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in Mechanical, Production or an Engineering company.

Familiar with British and International Standards E.g. ASME VIII, B31.1 , B31.3

Knowledge of exotic materials used in sea water desalination projects.

Familiarity with offshore / power plant specifications

Undertake calculations including Fluid Hydraulics, equipment skid weights for civil guidance drawings including wind loading.

SKILLS

Positive and agile attitude and keen to work in a team environment.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex industry related documents.

Ability to understand English via written and verbal communication.

Ability to make decisions requiring the use of a variety of variables in standard and nonstandard situations.

Experience in performing structural design and analysis with Bentley Systems - STAAD.Pro.and AutoPIPE would be advantageous but not essential.

Use of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Inventor & Navisworks would be advantageous but not essential.

Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
