Job Description
We are seeking a skilled IoT Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced IoT solutions for industrial applications, specializing in data acquisition from factory floor systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The role requires expertise in integrating third-party IoT platforms (e.g., Zoho IoT, Azure IoT, AWS IoT) with factory automation systems, leveraging standard protocols, and delivering actionable insights through data digestion, modeling, and visualization. The ideal candidate will combine a deep understanding of mechatronics, embedded systems, and cloud technologies with hands-on experience in PLC device interfacing and industrial analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- IoT System Design & Development:
- Architect and implement IoT solutions for factory floor automation, integrating mechatronic systems with embedded controllers and sensor networks.
- Design and develop scalable IoT frameworks using platforms like Zoho IoT, Azure IoT, AWS IoT, or equivalent third-party tools.
- Create end-to-end workflows for real-time data acquisition, processing, and storage from industrial equipment.
- PLC Integration & Data Acquisition:
- Interface with various PLC devices (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi) to extract operational data using standard protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).
- Configure and troubleshoot PLC communication for seamless fitment with IoT systems.
- Ensure robust data collection from sensors, actuators, and machinery on the factory floor.
- Embedded Systems & Hardware Development:
- Develop firmware for microcontrollers (e.g., ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi) to enable IoT connectivity and data processing.
- Design and prototype PCBs for custom sensor integration and hardware interfaces.
- Test and validate hardware-software interactions to ensure reliability in industrial environments.
- Communication Protocols & Networking:
- Implement and optimize communication protocols such as MQTT, LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi, and OPC UA for secure and efficient data transmission.
- Ensure low-latency, high-reliability connectivity between factory devices and cloud platforms.
- Data Digestion, Modeling & Visualization:
- Process and clean raw data from factory floor systems for meaningful analysis.
- Build data models to represent operational trends, machine performance, and production metrics.
- Develop dashboards and visualizations (using tools like Power BI, Grafana, or platform-native analytics) to provide actionable insights for customers.
- Cloud Integration & Analytics:
- Deploy IoT solutions on cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Zoho IoT, etc.) for data storage, processing, and analytics.
- Leverage cloud-based tools for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and performance optimization.
- Ensure data security, scalability, and compliance with industrial standards.
- Testing & Optimization:
- Conduct rigorous testing of IoT systems, including hardware, firmware, and cloud integration.
- Optimize system performance for real-time monitoring and minimal downtime in factory operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data flow, hardware malfunctions, or connectivity.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 2-4 years of hands-on experience in IoT development, embedded systems, or industrial automation.
- Proven expertise in integrating PLCs and factory floor devices with IoT platforms.
- Familiarity with Zoho IoT, Azure IoT, AWS IoT, or similar third-party IoT ecosystems is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in programming languages: C, C++, Python, or Embedded C.
- Strong knowledge of circuit design, sensor integration, and PCB prototyping.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP).
- Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, Raspberry Pi, etc.) and firmware development.
- Working knowledge of IoT cloud platforms and analytics tools (e.g., AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, Power BI).
- Understanding of data modeling, database systems, and visualization techniques.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering customer-centric solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including factory engineers and data analysts.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Experience with machine learning or AI for predictive analytics in IoT applications.
- Certification in AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial standards (e.g., ISA-95, IEC 61131-3) and cybersecurity practices.
