Job Description

What role will you play in the team?

As a Canada Tax Senior Associate, you will lead tax engagements, mentor junior staff, and ensure the accurate and timely delivery of Canadian tax services to clients. You will play a key role in managing client relationships and providing strategic tax advice. You will also mentor junior staff and ensure engagements are delivered in a timely manner.

Key responsibility

  • Manage and oversee the preparation of Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns (T1 and T2).
  • Review tax returns and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide tax planning and consulting services to clients.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis on complex tax issues.
  • Mentor and train junior tax staff.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist with tax audits and controversy matters.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and related documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in Canadian tax law and regulations.

Required Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., TaxCycle, Profile).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Canadian tax forms such as T1, T2, T3, and T5.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).
  • Prior experience in Canadian tax compliance and planning.
