Job Description

What role will you play in the team?

As a US Federal Tax Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in preparing complex federal tax returns, conducting thorough tax research, and assisting with strategic tax planning for our diverse client base. Collaborating with senior team members, you'll ensure compliance and optimize tax outcomes.

What you will do

You will be preparing complex US federal tax returns (Form 1040, 1120, etc.). Performing in-depth tax research and analysis. Assisting with federal tax planning strategies. Responding to complex client inquiries and resolving tax issues. Maintaining meticulous and organized tax records.

Key Responsibility

  • Prepare accurate and timely US federal tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1120, 1065, and 990.
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research using sources like the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury Regulations, court cases, and IRS publications.
  • Assist in developing and implementing federal tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Analyze complex tax transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, to ensure proper tax treatment.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide guidance on a wide range of federal tax issues.
  • Represent clients during IRS audits and assist in resolving tax disputes.
  • Stay current on federal tax law changes and updates through continuing education and professional development.
  • Collaborate with other members of the tax team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of tax services.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls and ethical standards.
  • Assist in the development of tax technology solutions and process improvements.

Required Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in US federal tax preparation and compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US federal tax laws and regulations, including the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Proficiency in using tax preparation software such as ProSystem fx, GoSystem Tax RS, or TaxAct.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with tax research databases such as Checkpoint and BNA.
