Job Description
- As an Animator at our company, your role will involve producing the motion and performance of three-dimensional computer graphic characters, creatures, objects, and crowds for high-end VFX films.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of animators on a show
- Act as the main point of contact for production and supervisors, ensuring clear communication, addressing creative challenges, providing solutions, and adapting to changes in production and scheduling
- Set and manage team assignments in collaboration with the animation supervisor
- Understand the animation tasks the team will be working on and anticipate potential technical and creative challenges
- Be prepared to act as a deputy for the animation supervisor when required
- Familiarize yourself with workflow templates, methodology, and documentation, and provide guidance to the team as needed
- Collaborate with technology teams to ensure that department tools are available and properly set up for the show
- Update supervisors and the Head of Department (HOD) on any project advancements for integration into other shows
- Effectively manage the team to prevent conflicts and disagreements
- Maintain positive relationships with all departments and address any issues promptly
- Attend dailies, present the team's work, and provide guidance to artists on presentation techniques
- Coach team members, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of junior team members
- Offer regular feedback to the team to ensure timely delivery of work at the highest standard
Qualifications Required:
- Previous experience in mentoring or leading a team
- Proficiency in Maya
- Understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form
- Knowledge of rigs, rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and data transfer between tools
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changes

- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to creative collaboration within the team and across departments
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills
- Working knowledge of modeling, rigging, and Mel/Python scripting
- Understanding of human and animal anatomy, as well as life drawing skills
- Experience with motion capture data
Desirable Skills:
- Background in traditional animation and/or art
