Job Title: Motor Head VP / SVP / Business Head (General Insurance)

Function: Sales & Distribution (Motor)
Location: Hyderabad

Own and scale the Motor insurance business (New & Renewal) across Direct, Agency, and Retail channels, delivering aggressive GWP growth with profitable underwriting. Build a highperformance distribution engine, strengthen partner ecosystems, improve customer NPS, and optimize loss ratio and COR through close collaboration with Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Operations, and Digital teams.


Key Responsibilities

Strategy & P&L

  • Define and execute the Motor gotomarket and annual operating plan across Direct/Agency/Retail.
  • Own P&L for Motor: deliver GWP/ANP, loss ratio, expense ratio, and Combined Operating Ratio (COR) targets.
  • Drive channel mix (Direct vs. Agency vs. Retail) to balance growth and profitability.
  • Translate strategy into region/zone/branch plans with monthly & quarterly targets.

Sales & Distribution Leadership

  • Build and scale Agency (individual agents/PoSPs/corporates), Retail partners, and Direct (inside sales, telesales, branches, digital leads).
  • Expand partner network: aggregators, garages, OEM/ autodealer tieups, bancassurance crosssell, and affinity partnerships.
  • Improve sales productivity (policies per FOS, premium per SP/agent, hit rate, leadtobind).
  • Institutionalize rigorous sales governance: MBR/QBR, funnel reviews, activity KPIs.

Product, Pricing & Portfolio Quality

  • Partner with Underwriting & Actuarial to calibrate pricing, discounts, addons, and risk appetite by segment (Private Car, TwoWheeler, CV).
  • Optimize portfolio mix (Make/Model/IDV/Geography) to maintain target loss ratio.
  • Cocreate marketrelevant campaigns, bundles, addons (e.g., zero dep, roadside assist).

Claims, Service & Experience

  • Work with Claims to reduce TAT, leakage, and severity, and to enhance cashless network and garage relationships.
  • Improve customer NPS/CSAT, firsttimeright issuance, and renewal retention.
  • Ensure seamless FNOL, endorsement, and refund journeys with Ops & Tech.

Digital & Data

  • Scale Digital Direct (web, app, aggregator APIs), lead management, and marketing automation.
  • Use portfolio analytics for pricing feedback loops, crosssell/upsell, churnrisk models.
  • Drive adoption of CRM/ATS/Lead tools and field mobility apps.

People & Culture

  • Hire, coach, and retain highperforming Zonal/Regional/Area leaders.

  • Ensure ongoing training on products, regulations, sales skills, and ethics.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with IRDAI regulations, POSP/agent licensing norms, KYC, AML, and conduct standards.
  • Enforce discount/waiver controls, documentation, and auditreadiness.

Requirement

Experience

  • 1218+ years in General Insurance with 7+ years in Motor; recent VP/SVP/Head responsibility.
  • Proven multichannel leadership: Direct, Agency/PoSP, Retail partners (incl. aggregators & dealer networks).
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with profitable growth in Motor lines.
  • Strong exposure to Underwriting/Actuarial/Claims collaboration and pricing governance.
  • Track record of building highscale field organizations (multiregion/multitier).

Education

  • Graduate in Business/Commerce/Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Certifications in insurance (e.g., III) are an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic planning, P&L management, and channel architecture.
  • Deep Motor market understanding (pricing levers, competition, OEM/dealer ecosystem).
  • Datadriven decisionmaking; comfort with dashboards & portfolio analytics.
  • Strong stakeholder management with UW/Actuarial/Claims/Operations/Tech/Marketing.
  • Leadership, coaching, performance management; high integrity & compliance mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presence.
